Ahoy – Infrequent uploads, but usually cover a really interesting and obscure gaming subject with high production value. Watch their Polybius video, if nothing else!

AJMarekArt – Cute indie cartoon shorts about a cat and squirrel getting up to mischief alongside an all-animal cast.

Animalogic – Animal facts videos, both living and extinct. As an added bonus, Danielle Dufault, one of the main presenters, is also an extraordinarily talented artist and draws the subject animal as the episode progresses!

Ashens – Usually showing cheap garbage from discount stores or trash outlets like Temu or Wish, often hilariously low-quality toys or depressing microwave meals. Also made several feature-length movies!

Ashley Embers – Mostly doom commentary content about the many ways modern society is spiralling downward and unravelling.

Binging With Babish – Food videos, usually fun stuff like recreating foods from movies, TV and games and ranking things like brands and flavours.

Bizarre Beasts – As the name suggests, educational animal videos focusing on the weirder creatures that have lived. Their “Endlings” series covers the final member of a species before it goes extinct, which I think is fascinating!

Boundary Break – Interesting gaming channel that uses various tools to move the in-game camera where it normally wouldn’t go and find hidden secrets and see how games work under the hood.

Brian Lagerstrom – Professional chef, shares his own recipes for mostly western dishes either as improvements on classics or to make more complex recipes easier to make at home.

Bright Sun Films – Has two main series. Abandoned, which covers business locations that were closed down and left to decay (malls, theme parks etc.), so urban exploration stuff. And Bankrupt, which covers businesses that go out of business, going over their rise and fall.

Bringus Studios – Neat console mods and hacks, usually highly impractical and just an excuse to see what can run SteamOS.

CarrieTooTired – Reviews animated movies. Videos quite long due to relatively slow talking and a lot of clip and meme segues. Enjoyable but slow uploads.

Cathode Ray Dude – Long videos usually about industrial tech and extremely niche and obscure consumer electronics. Occasionally videos about displays!

Chef Billy Parisi – Professional chef making food videos, not really suitable for beginners, despite doing a good job going through the process, but the stuff he makes looks absolutely delicious!

Cinemassacre – The original, home of Angry Video Game Nerd! I started watching this before Youtube even existed, although lately not so much. Still worth checking out the older stuff for historical context!

Clint’s Reptiles – Animal videos primarily focused on reptiles, but not always. Mostly does a series on phylogeny, reactions to animal-related misinformation and a series ranking which animals make the best pets.

Coffeezilla – Really well-presented, well-researched and entertaining documentaries about fraud, corruption and scams around things like pyramid schemes, AI, gambling, insider trading and crypto.

Cowboy Kent Rollins – Food show hosted by genuine cowboy, cooking outdoors from a chef wagon doing ranching work. A lot of meat and cast iron! American levels are off the charts!

Cox n’ Crendor Podcast – The only podcast I listen to and the only remnant of the Co-Optional crew I still follow. Hosted by Jesse Cox and Crendor, very funny, great chemistry between them. Been running over 14 years with 500+ episodes to date!

Damon Cassidy – Doom content mostly revolving around how terrible life is becoming for Gen Z and how the wealthy are screwing over the poor.

Defunctland – Very high quality documentaries mostly covering the history of theme parks and resorts and the attractions within. Also has a secondary series in a similar format about old TV shows. Has probably the best Muppets documentary ever made!

Digital Foundry – Gaming channel mostly focused on graphics tech and component news for both consoles and PC. Very in-depth performance analysis for newly released titles.

Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared – Funny, intriguing and often disturbing series of shorts using a mixture of puppetry and costumes with a lot of creative practical effects.

Eddy Burback – Not really any consistency to the topics he covers and uploads are infrequent, but they’re often entertaining and well made even if you’re not familiar with the subject. Probably most well known for his video on AI psychosis.

Eltorro64Rus – One of the longest running and consistently entertaining classic Gmod/SFM animators, using TF2 assets and characters.

Emmymade – Mostly food videos covering viral recipes and cooking techniques, and homemade versions of popular snacks.

Ethan Chlebowski – Great channel for learning culinary fundamentals. Eschews recipes and instead goes over the science and method and encourages experimentation.

FunkyFrogBait – Doom content focusing mostly around online culture. Presenter and comedian Kal McRaven takes a depressing subject and makes it funny!

Game Sack – Joe brings attention to a bunch of video games once a week based on a certain theme or category.

Girl With The Dogs – Videos of cats and dogs (and sometimes others) being groomed. Often gives free grooms to animals in need which is awesome!

Good Mythical Morning – Daily show hosted by Rhett & Link, often but not always revolving around a head-to-head food challenge like guessing the country of origin or which is the most expensive.

Helen Rennie – Cooking instructor, shares videos about cooking technique and equipment every few weeks.

Hideaki Utsumi – Channel which got famous for the laughing red birb meme, also veteran video game audio designer! Daily uploads of the antics his birds get up to.

History of the Earth – High quality, long form documentaries about ancient biology and geology.

History Time – High quality, long form documentaries about ancient civilisations and archaeology.

How Money Works – Videos explaining what’s happening in the wider economy and why, presented by a former investment manager. Leans slightly toward doom content.

I did a thing – Australian engages in dangerous, impractical and sometimes illegal DIY projects mainly involving fire and jagged steel.

Jason Graves – Really scratches the nostalgia itch of early Youtube, following the sort of playbook AVGN would do but without retreading old ground and going into greater depth on the topics. Bias toward RPG’s.

JimmyTheGiant – Covers past and present British politics and subcultures.

Josh Strife Plays – Sub-channel of Josh Strife Hayes, which itself mostly does deep dives into MMO topics. This channel does deep dives into retro games and dissects them to determine whether they were as good as we remember.

Joshua Weissman Recipes – Sub-channel of Joshua Weissman, the main channel covers the more bombastic, clickbaity cooking content. This channel however is where he posts the recipes. Both are fun, just prefer this one!

KaiserBeamz – Mostly reviews on retro anime, but did a very in-depth video series on the Looney Tunes history which I recommend giving a watch!

Kurzgesagt – Primarily focused on scientific hypotheses, “what-if” scnearios and animated with cute little cartoon birds as stand-ins for humans.

Layze – Brings humorous commentary to topics like online scams, social media cringe and other content slop culture.

Leafy Street – Contained ecosystem hobbyist channel, aquariums and terrariums. Mostly reptiles and amphibians. Infrequent but interesting, humorous and well edited uploads.

LEMMiNO – Professional grade documentaries primarily themed around unsolved mysteries. Very infrequent uploads but worth checking out their existing works.

LGR – Cozy retro tech channel focused around obscure PC’s and peripherals.

Linus Tech Tips – Used to mainly do reviews on PC components but lately has pivoted more toward entertainment as a priority. Good variety but maybe lacking focus.

Maple Jubilee – Comfort cooking videos with a cozy presenter showing you cozy recipes.

Maritime Horrors – Short videos about historical ghost ships and nautical mysteries.

Matt McMuscles – Awesome blue skeleton dude, most videos revolve around video games that got stuck in development hell and documents it. Also has a lot of bad fighting games which get ranked.

Michael MJD – Retro tech channel, usually related to portables and whether or not he can install stuff onto them that they were never meant to have.

mrnigelng – Uncle Roger! Comedian and primary antagonist of the cooking channel world. Reacts to various cooking videos, usually either really amazing ones or revoltingly bad ones.

NileRed – Chemistry videos, a lot of really cool shorts combined with long form project videos, often creating something from another thing.

Ordinary Things – Long form documentaries around a wide variety of doom subjects, does a recap of all the shit that went down at the end of every year.

Patrick Boyle – Weekly coverage and breakdown of important finance-related events while delivering laughs with a very dry sense of humour that often serves to highlight the utter insanity of the financial system and its participants.

PBS Eons – Series of videos exploring ancient life on Earth with a focus on evolution.

Poseidon Entertainment – Video essays and opinion pieces on theme parks, rides and themed attractions.

ratboygenius – Probably best known for the viral “Potato Knishes” song, this channel honestly defies description and classification. Odd animation usually accompanying original music, sometimes telling a story and sometimes not,

Ratties on the Range – Channel of shorts of pet rats, including the star of the show “Mouse” the tiny rat with one eye!

Rerez – Gaming channel that does long form videos mostly on bad games and consoles, the hosts becoming more and more frustrated as they force themselves to complete them.

Savantics – Doomer content from the dark and depressing corners of the Internet.

Schaffrillas Productions – Giant legally distinct crab that does reviews and analysis videos, mostly around movies but generally does as it pleases.

SciShow – Daily science videos covering a broad range of topics, usually focusing on recent discoveries.

Shadow The Rat – Rat herd video blogs, adorable showcase of rats learning tricks and seeing how they react to different treats.

Shoe0nHead – Making me aware of what’s going on around social media I normally wouldn’t touch and doing so with sass. Amuses me.

slow start – 20-30 minute videos covering no particular topic other than being tangentially related to the 2000’s.

Sr Pelo – It’s a Christmas tradition to watch the Mokey Show.

styropyro – Fun with science! How to make deadly lasers at home, along with other dangerous projects.

Tasting History – Food channel that covers recipes that tie in with a history lesson. Can be anything from ancient Roman garum to 20th century war rations.

Tech Tangents – Retro tech videos, usually related to restoration projects. Covers a lot of things. Typewriters, PC’s, terminals, scanners, printers etc.

Technology Connections – Long form deep dives mostly focused on home appliances and how they work, explaining technology that we usually just take for granted.

Texas Beeworks – Oddly soothing videos about humanely relocating beehives.

The 8-Bit Guy – Retro computer videos, shows off a lot about how they work and what sort of capabilities old computers had with homemade code.

The Harry Gold Show – Funny art show that mostly covers character design in animation using “what if x looked like y” as the framing device with skits and facts sprinkled in.

The Poopie Show – Fill your brain with useless facts, often gross and depressing ones, taught to you by a deformed (possibly) Angela Anaconda.

The Urban Rescue Ranch – Video blog series of wild animal rehab facility in Texas, going from doing it in his backyard to outright buying a huge property and building everything from the ground up. Also has capybaras! Uploads not so frequent any more.

TheOdd1sOut – Animated videos covering a range of topics associated with geek culture and relatable situations blown out of proportion.

Townsends – High quality food and lifestyle channel from the historical context of 18th century America.

Vanessa Wingårdh – Doomer videos amassing a collection of the multiple ways America has spiralled into a dystopian hellscape.

videogamedunkey – Insightful and inspiring shitposting, usually on new game releases or current gaming-related events. Also a game publisher!

Vinesauce – Probably the closest thing to a “streamer” that I watch. I also occasionally watch their sub-channel with the full streams for specific segments.

Workin’ with Wolkon – Professional bathroom renovator, very satisfying videos showing bathrooms being totally ripped out and replaced with shiny new ones!

Yesterworld Entertainment – Mainly focused on themed entertainment history but also covers movie production.

Usagimura Ch – Videos from a bunny breeder in Japan.
